Garden Overview

　This garden was created in the Nara period and discovered during excavation in 1975, it is recognized as one of the precious ruins of ancient Japan. This garden was designated as a national Special Historic Site in 1978 and as a national Special Place of Scenic Beauty in 1992.

【Operating Hours】
　This garden is open to the public free of charge from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (entry is only permitted until 4:30 p.m.)

【Days the Garden Is Closed】
　Wednesdays (when Wednesday falls on a holiday the Garden will be closed the following day), the day after holidays (except when that day is a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday), and from December 26 to January 5.
