1890 12 27Osaka Railroad Company completes line between Nara and Ouji, Nara Station begins operations
1892 02 02Railroad line between Osaka Minatomachi and Nara completed
1895 04 29Nara Imperial Museum (now the Nara National Museum) opens
1896 04 18Completion of railroad line between Nara and Kizu make direct route to Kyoto possible
10 −First cutting of the antlers of the deer at Kasuga Taisha Shrine
1897 04 − Nara fire fighting team organized (origin of today's fire fighting system)
1898 02 01Nara becomes a city (area is 23.44 sq. km. and population is 29,986)
04 02Elections held for city council (until 4. 3)
04 09First city council meeting held
04 19Daibutsu Railroad (between Nara and Kamo) completed, passage to Nagoya made possible
1898 05 11Railroad between Kyoubate and Sakurai opened

1900 02 17 Nighttime fire on Mt. Wakakusa conducted for the first time
12 07 Excursion roadway in the mountains around Kasuga completed

1906 07 01 Kajuurou Tanada and others organize the Heijo Palace ruins preservation movement
1908 03 31 Telephone network opens in the city
1909 04 01City fire fighting team put in place with staff room established inside City Hall
05 01 Nara Women's Higher Normal School (now Nara Women's University) opened
10 17 National Railroad Authority opens Nara Hotel
1910 12 16 Nara Gas Company established in Aburasaka, provision of coal gas begins in May the following year
1911 03 −Kajuurou Tanada and others complete monument at Heijo Palace ruins
