I joined the Nara Scenery Project, and they asked me to do a painting of something in the Naramachi neighborhood . I chose the place where I used to walk through. I visited the houses with the lattice and the shops of long standing. After searching for a while, I became interested in one of the shops, Mr. Kikuoka's with the hanging curtain and the big urn in front of his shop. I thought his shop was a suitable symbol of Naramachi, and sketched it.
