It is enjoyable for me to search out art compositions. The joy never stops wavering, like "should I use the west side of a house as a front view, or should I use a pine tree?".
I had sketched the characteristics of temple timbering before, but it didn't give a strong impact because it needed too many explanations by words. If it were drawn with a bird's-eye view, the octagonal roof would be more interesting.
The reason why I used the gold gilt on the roof, is because I wanted to express the temple`s solemnity where as a gathering-place for people to worship. The air with a pure light makes the pine needles and grass shine like gold.
